Erik Teixeira

 

Erik had an early start on trombone and guitar before finding his way into contemporary and traditional middle eastern music and the oud. Researching ethnomusicology, contemporary world music, music cognition and applied mathematics led him to play with the Austin-based Gamelan Encantada and the Baghdad Ensemble. Erik is also currently playing oud with middle-eastern influenced Sadaqah and has reformed folk rock group The Nisa to play shows across the southwest.
